 An activity about Halloween

Aims: compare traditions from cultures different from yours; use tools to create presentations and/or interactive posters.


PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Find out about Halloween using the Scavenger Hunt you find in the presentation below

 

 


STEP 2. Work in groups of four. One of you is from Austria, one is from France, one from China and one from Ireland. Use the link Halloween around the worls and look for information. Find out how Halloween is celebrated in your country and get ready to tell your friends. Consider the games people play, the food they eat, the way they dress up, popular beliefs.

Compare the different celebrations and complete the following organizer.

STEP 3. Choose one of the following activities.

a. You are a journalist and have to write an article about how Halloween is celebrated around the world. Use all the information you have learnt so far and write an article for a youth magazine. Use pictures and clip arts to make it more attractive. When it is ready, post in in our magazine.

b. Use all the information you have learnt so far and create either a presentation using prezi or an interactive poster using glogster. Use pictures and videos, if you like.

Hi am Vello. I live in Estonia. I am 11 years old. I celebrate Halloween in my home. I use spooky stuff.Some people in Estonia celebrate it.In our school we have Halloween disko tonight. I usually have  parties at home. I like to dress to dress up vampire.THE END!

I don´t celebrate halloween at home. I celebrate Estonia halloween is pumpkins. We have a carved pumpkin in our school. I don`t like dressing up.
